Fit and Fab cocktail dresses for any season

cocktail dressWhen Christian Dior first used the word cocktail dress in the late 1940’s to refer to clothes that would be worn as early evening wear, little did he or the world know, that he would be an icon and a great contributor in the fashion world today.

Cocktail dresses have been extremely popular amongst most women of all shapes and have created a sense of signature in all gatherings and occasions. They come in a wide array of styles, designs, shapes and lengths. Not to mention the “black dress” that becomes a trademark for cocktail parties and other socializing events.

Is this your first time to get an invitation on cocktail parties? If so, you need to at least know the basic dos and don’ts when wearing a cocktail dress. When it is a cocktail party, you should avoid wearing a sequined gown with some Elizabethan embroidery, as they are too formal for such an occasion.

Sequenced gowns with laces and long gowns with some diamonds in it are classified elegant social dresses fit for formal gatherings such as weddings, anniversaries, and engagements, not for cocktail parties. The ideal would be cocktail dresses that stop above the knee. Choose a material that would make you feel comfortable like satin and silk.

If the event falls on summer days, wear a cocktail dress that are pastel in color like light pink, sky blue, yellow or pale green. These colors give a sense of comfy feeling and are fresh to look at during this hot season. Floral prints on your cocktail dress plus some simple accessories are also popular during this season.

On the other hand, if you have been invited on a winter season, cottony fabric is the best choice. Dark colors like black (the all time favorite), charcoal gray, dull purple or maroon are the best picks for this season. These colors provide a warm feeling when the weather is cold and are not to bright to look at.

Make-up is not a tough issue on events like this, because women are good at it. You know exactly the colors of make-up that look great on you. Just add a little twist or something classy colors fit for the event.
